Problem 11
Two block, m1 dan m2 of 6 kg and 4 kg respectively in a pulleys systems. See the figure.
Use the acceleration due to gravity g = 10 m/s2, find the accelerations of m1 and m2 , ignore the mass of pulleys and assume there is no frictional force acting between the string/rope and the pulleys!
Solution
First, analyze the second block, the acting forces on the block are the rope tension and the weight.
Assume the second block moves down with the acceleration of a2, apply newton law:
Equation 1
The next, analyze the first block, the block moves up with the acceleration a1, apply newton law:
Equation 2
The relationship of a1 and a2 the rope tension T1 and T2 are
Equation 3
Equation 4
Combine eq 3 and 4 into eq 1
Equation 5
Finishing 5 dan 1
