A Shortcut to Collision Block-Bullet

physics.fisikastudycenter.com - shortcuts to a collision case involves a bullet and a block. The speed of the bullet before collision and the angle formed will be determined.

See the figure of a collision below:

From the problem the first you have to determine the speed of the bullet before collides, when the initial state of the block is at rest, and the speed of block at the height of h is zero (the block in its maximum height it can reach). The second, you have to find the magnitude of the angle θ see the figure above

The shortcuts to this case

The speed of bullet The angle θ

where m1 is the mass of the bullet
m2 is the mass of the block
g is the acceleration due to gravity
l is the length of string / rope
ν is the speed of bullet before collision
h is the maximum height reached by the block, see the reference
θ is the angle formed when the block reaches its highest point
